How to Dehydrate Sludge
1. Concentration of sludge. The purpose of sludge thickening is to dehydrate sludge and reduce sludge volume, creating conditions for subsequent processing. Concentration and dehydration methods include gravity sedimentation concentration, floating concentration and other concentration methods.
2. Sludge digestion. In order to reduce sludge amount, prevent environmental pollution and increase its utilization value, digestion treatment is generally required. Sludge digestion is the use of microbial metabolism to decompose the organic matter in the sludge into stable substances, remove odors, kill parasite eggs, and reduce the volume of sludge. The biogas produced in the digestion process is recycled.
3. Sludge dewatering and sludge drying. After the sludge is concentrated and digested, its water content is still about 96%, and the volume is large, which is not convenient for transportation and use. It needs further dehydration and drying treatment. The main methods are natural evaporation and mechanical dehydration.
4. Sludge incineration. After the sludge is dried. The water content is still 10%-15%, and the volume is still large. The water and organic impurities in the sludge can be completely removed by incineration, and kill pathogenic microorganisms. Some sludge contains toxic substances and is not suitable for agricultural fertilizers, or it is difficult to use sludge for other reasons, in order to prevent pollution, Incineration method is also used. The device for burning sludge is an incinerator.
5. Final treatment of sludge. When the sludge contains toxic substances such as heavy metal ions, it must be finished, buried deep or thrown into the ocean.
