Filter Press Analysis and Solutions

Filter press is a kind of filtration Press Equipment used for solid-liquid separation of various suspensions. It is often used for dewatering operations such as kaolin, ceramics, and stone. After long-term operation, most users will encounter various failures more or less, which not only affects the normal operation of the entire concentrator, but also damages the economic benefits of the concentrator.

So, what are the common failures of filter press in daily operation? When encountering these problems, how should we solve them? This article analyzes the causes of eight common filter press problems and gives corresponding solutions.

1. The filter press frame itself is damaged

The main reasons for the damage of the filter press plate frame are as follows: when the mud is too thick or there are dry blocks, it is easy to cause the feeding port to be blocked, and only the pressure of the hydraulic system itself is left between the filter plates. Long-term pressure is extremely easy to cause damage; when the feed is insufficient or the feed contains improper solid particles, it will also cause the plate frame itself to be stressed or damaged; if the outlet is blocked by solids or the feed is closed when it is started Valve/discharge valve, when the pressure does not leak anywhere, the plate frame of the filter press will be damaged; and if the filter plate is not cleaned thoroughly, it may cause medium leakage. Once it leaks, the edge of the filter press plate frame will be impacted into small trenches. A large amount of medium leakage will inevitably cause the pressure to be unable to rise, so that the mud cake cannot be formed.

Solution:

l Using a nylon cleaning scraper to carefully remove the mud from the feed inlet;

lthe volume of the filter plate;

l Carefully check whether there is a problem with the filter cloth. Secondly, check whether the cleaning of the drain outlet is smooth, check whether the outlet is smooth, and open the corresponding pressure valve to release the pressure;

l Carefully clean and repair the filter plate.

2. Water seepage between the plate and frame of the filter press

When the hydraulic pressure is low, wrinkles appear on the filter cloth, gaps appear on the filter cloth, or there are unknown objects on the sealing surface that look like blocks, the phenomenon of water seepage between the plate and frame of the filter press is likely to occur at this time.

Solution:

l Increase the hydraulic pressure correspondingly;

lOnce there are wrinkles or gaps on the filter cloth, replace the filter cloth in time;

lUsing a nylon scraper to remove the unknown lumps on the sealing surface in time.

l lUneven filter cake or difficult to form filter cake

3. When the feed particle size is too small, the concentration is too low, the feed is insufficient or the outlet is blocked, the uneven distribution of the filter cake is easy to occur, which makes it difficult to form the filter cake.

Solution:

l Improve the supply of materials, and appropriately increase or decrease the supply of materials according to the actual situation;

l Clean up the blockage, feed hole, drain hole, filter cloth, etc. promptly and thoroughly, and replace the filter cloth when necessary;

l Increase the pressure or pump power, start at low pressure, and continuously pressurize.

l The filter plate moves slowly or falls easily

4. Sometimes, too much oil and dirt on the guide rod will cause the filter plate of the filter press to walk slowly, or even fall, which is very dangerous.

Solution:

l Clean up the oil stains and stains on the guide rod in time, and apply butter to ensure its lubricity to avoid accidents;

l It is strictly forbidden to apply thin oil on the guide rod. Too much thin oil can easily cause the operator of the filter press to fall down and cause personal injury.

l The filter press makes an abnormal noise

5. When the filter press makes an abnormal noise, one is that the motor may be aging and the load is too heavy; the second is the damage of the high-pressure oil pump (the high-pressure oil pump is generally a plunger pump); the third is that the coupling is not concentric when the hydraulic station is installed. Improper placement of the coupling will cause the motor to swing too much, increase the load, and make abnormal noises.

Solution:

l If the motor is seriously aging, replace the motor;

l If the hydraulic oil is abnormal or has a long life, it is easy to cause damage to the plunger and needs to be replaced in time;

l Recalibrate the coupling.

l Insufficient flow of hydraulic system

6. The reasons for the insufficient flow of the hydraulic system are as follows: the oil pump does not discharge oil; the sequence valve setting pressure is too low or the valve core is stuck in the opening position; the oil filter is blocked; the oil level of the oil tank is too low, and the oil pump sucks; hydraulic oil viscosity If it is too large, it will be difficult to absorb oil; the internal parts of the pump are severely worn, the internal leakage is large, and the pressure and flow rate cannot reach the rated value.

Solution:

l Overhaul the oil pump;

l Overhaul the sequence valve;

l Clean the oil filter;

l Replenish oil in time;

l Change oil or increase oil temperature;

l Inspect and repair or replace the oil pump in time.

7. When the material cake is clamped in the sealing surface of the filter plate frame, the filter cloth is damaged, the sealing requirement is not met, or the feed concentration is too low, the phenomenon of spraying is easy to occur.

Solution:

l The filter cloth should be washed or replaced;

l Appropriately increase the feed concentration to 500g/L.

l Electrical failure

8. Wires are easy to fall off, the wiring is wrong, the parts are in poor contact or the parts are damaged, the screws are not securely tightened, etc., these problems will cause electrical failure.

Solution:

l Electrical personnel must have a solid knowledge of electrical principles, and at the same time properly grasp the basic principles and systems of the filter press, so as to solve the electrical problems of the filter press in time when a problem occurs;

l Electrical personnel need to accurately determine the electrical fault point according to the fault performance, so as to clean, repair or replace the fault, but also ensure that the electrical contacts are reliable;

l During the period, the parts that are prone to problems should be checked first to ensure the speed of repair to prevent unnecessary losses.
